Will leave Newcastle this summer

Trippier will depart Newcastle United when his contract expires this summer, the club announced, bringing an end to a four-and-a-half year stint at St. James' Park, Sporting director Ross Wilson commented. "Kieran should be so proud of the contribution he has made to Newcastle United's progress over the last four-and-a-half years. I've admired Kieran from a distance for many years, and seeing him up close in recent months has only reinforced the impact he has as a leader, both in the dressing room and on the pitch. When the time comes, Kieran will leave with the respect and gratitude of everyone connected with Newcastle United. We wish him every success in whatever comes next."

Analysis: Trippier joined the Magpies in January 2022 when the club was in the Premier League's relegation places and leaves having made over 150 appearances, scoring four goals. He has been a key part of two Champions League qualification campaigns and played the full 90 minutes in the 2025 Carabao Cup final win over Liverpool, contributing an assist on the opening goal. This season he has logged 1,462 Premier League minutes with one assist in what has been a reduced but still meaningful role with the Magpies, with Valentino Livramento having taken over as the first-choice right-back. The 35-year-old will now move on as a free agent this summer with his legacy at Newcastle firmly cemented.

Sets up late winner

Trippier assisted once to go with four crosses (one accurate) and one corner in Wednesday's 2-1 win against Manchester United. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 80th minute.

Analysis: Trippier picked out Will Osula in space, with the forward doing most of the work to finish brilliantly. The right back held his own defensively despite some difficult moments, registering four tackles, two interceptions and a season high 10 clearances. The assist was his third in the last five games across all competitions, a run in which he has created eight chances and delivered 14 crosses.

Back to back UCL assists

Trippier assisted once to go with three crosses (one accurate) and three corners in Tuesday's 3-2 win versus Qarabag.

Analysis: Trippier set up Sven Botman's goal, recording assists in both legs of the tie. The right back has created two or more chances in six of his last seven matches and now has three assists in the Champions League. However, he is still without a league goal contribution this season despite creating 23 chances in 15 appearances.

Assists in win

Trippier assisted once to go with two crosses (one accurate) and two corners in Wednesday's 6-1 win against Qarabag.

Analysis: Trippier's crossing volume was down to just two on the night, his lowest of the season. But one delivery found Thiaw, who scored from a header, giving Trippier his second Champions League assist and first since November. Across his last five appearances, the right back has created 10 chances, sent in 26 crosses, and contributed defensively with eight tackles, 15 clearances, one interception and one block.

Eight crosses in 0-0 draw

Trippier generated one shot (zero on goal), eight crosses (three accurate) and four corners in Sunday's 0-0 draw against Wolverhampton.

Analysis: Trippier attempted eight crosses as Newcastle drew with Wolves. This is Trippier's first Premier League start since returning from injury, although he did also start in the FA Cup against Bournemouth. Of his eight crosses, he completed three and was able to create one chance. His four corners kept him as Newcastle's second-highest set-piece taker, despite having played in less than half of the Premier League games.

Starts in FA Cup

Trippier started and went 69 minutes in Saturday's FA Cup win against Bournemouth, finishing with two corners.

Analysis: Trippier is fully back from injury after staying on the bench the prior two league matches. With a new injury to Valentino Livramento, it likely means a move back into the full-time XI for Trippier, similar to early in the season. Given their defensive injuries, Trippier is needed as much as possible, though Lewis Miley can seemingly play any position, including right-back.

Available from bench

Trippier (hamstring) remained an unused substitute in Sunday's 2-0 win against Crystal Palace, confirming he is back available for Newcastle.

Analysis: Trippier finally cleared his hamstring injury that sidelined him since early November since he was back available on the bench in Sunday's victory against Crystal Palace. The right-back will likely be eased back into the mix to avoid any setbacks and since the young Lewis Miley has been doing well at right-back in recent weeks.

Close to return

Trippier (hamstring) is nearing a return to play, according to manager Eddie Howe. "We've got a couple of training days, but Kieran has worked really well. They've had a couple of recovery periods, so they're both close."

Analysis: Trippier was eyeing a return to end 2025 but has yet to make the team sheet, with the defender still not ready. However, he is nearing a return, with the defender taking part in some recovery programs. The club has numerous matches coming up in the next two weeks, hopeful to return to play during that stretch.

Aiming new year to return

Trippier (hamstring) is still out and his return date will be around the new year, coach Eddie Howe said in the press conference. "Kieran is still out and his target date will be around the new year we think."

Analysis: Trippier is still in the rehabilitation of his hamstring injury and will likely miss the next two weeks before returning to the match squad, since his return date will be around the new year, according to coach Eddie Howe. Trippier is expected to be aiming the clash against Crystal Palace on Jan. 4 to return, and will likely gradually build his fitness back before competing with Valentino Livramento for a starting spot in the backline of the Magpies.

Could miss one month

Trippier (hamstring) could miss one month of competition due to injury, coach Eddie Howe confirmed in the press conference. "Kieran had a scan on his hamstring, we think it is roughly around a month, give or take."

Analysis: Trippier suffered a minor hamstring injury in training on Friday that turned out slightly more serious than expected since he could be set to miss three weeks to one month to recover from the issue. That will keep Trippier out of the next four matches at least and, worst case scenario, he could miss around eight in total. This is a blow for Newcastle since Valentino Livramento is just returning from a knee injury and will not be able to ease his load with the Englishman out as he will have to replace him in the backline.

Not with team

Trippier (hamstring) is not with the team for Tuesday's match against Newcastle, according to manager Eddie Howe.

Analysis: Trippier was not with the team Saturday in a late absence due to a hamstring injury and will miss further time, out for their UCL match. The good news is the club was recently boosted by the return of Valentino Livramento and Dan Burn, who will likely earn the nods at full-back. A return for Trippier remains open moving forward, unknown if he will be fit to face Everton on Saturday.

Missing Saturday

Trippier is out for Saturday's match against Manchester City due to a hamstring injury, according to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail.

Analysis: Trippier has fallen to the sidelines Saturday after picking up an injury, wth the defender deeling some discomfort in his hamstring. It is unkown how serious the issue is, leaving his availability for their midweek UCL match up in the air. He has been their regular on the right flank and would be expected to continue in that spot once fit, with Valentino Livramento then likely to move to left-back.

Five crosses in defeat

Trippier generated five crosses (zero accurate) and two corners in Sunday's 3-1 loss versus Brentford. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 97th minute.

Analysis: Trippier failed to record a chance created for the first time in seven outings. Additionally, this marked his seventh straight game with at least four crosses, but it was the first time in that span that he failed to land one accurately.

Logs assist in UCL win

Trippier delivered an assist, sent in four crosses (two accurate), made four tackles (three won) and three clearances and helped his side to keep a clean sheet during Wednesday's 2-0 Champions League win over Athletic Bilbao.

Analysis: Trippier finally got his first assist of the season in all competitions, a perfect free-kick cross that was headed home by Dan Burn for the opening goal of the match in the 11th minute. The right-back put up a very well-rounded stat line as well, which included another game with significant defensive numbers. Over his last five starts in all competitions, Trippier had 11 chances created, 29 crosses, 14 tackles, 17 clearances and three clean sheets and, if he starts racking up assists as he did in prior campaigns, this two-way production can take his fantasy stock to a whole different level.

Back in training

Trippier (illness) is back in training after missing out against West Ham via illness, per Dominic Schurr of the Shields Gazette.

Analysis: Trippier fell ill before Sunday's trip to West Ham, but is now back fit and available. The defender should be an option for Wednesday's clash with Athletic Club now that he's resumed team activity. Emil Krafth filled in at right-back with Trippier our last time.

Nov 2, 2025

Out with illness

Trippier (illness) is out for Sunday's trip to West Ham, the club announced.

Analysis: Trippier isn't an option for Sunday's clash due to an illness. The defender was replaced by Emil Krafth, who is a bit of a surprise inclusion at right-back with Lewis Hall and Valentino Livramento both out. Trippier's first chance to return is a Wednesday clash with Athletic Club,

Oct 25, 2025

Five crosses in win

Trippier registered five crosses (two accurate) and three corners in Saturday's 2-1 win over Fulham.

Analysis: Trippier had a productive attacking match Saturday, highlighted by his five crosses and two chances created. He has been productive throughout the season but has yet to record a goal contribution in either the Premier League or the Champions League. He played well on the defensive end too as he won six duels, made six clearances and won one tackle in his full 90 minutes of action.

Sep 25, 2025

Plays off bench midweek

Trippier appeared off the bench for 29 minutes of play in Wednesday's 4-1 win over Bradford City.

Analysis: Trippier was back on the bench in Premier League play last contest but went unused, now returning to play in Carabao Cup play against Bradford for a short appearance off the bench. He would not have to do a whole lot in the contest, only recording a few passes in his time on the field. He will now hope to return to his starting role after he started in the first five games of the season.

Sep 21, 2025

Returns to bench

Trippier (undisclosed) is on the bench for Sunday's match against Bournemouth.

Analysis: Trippier suffered a knock over the week in UCL action against Barcelona, but has returned, with the defender fit enough for a spot on the bench. He will look to see the start next match after starting in five games to begin the campaign, with Lewis Hall seeing the start in his spot Sunday.

Sep 18, 2025

Suffers knock against Barcelona

Trippier suffered a knock during Newcastle United's 2-1 loss Saturday against Barcelona, according to Scott Wilson of The Northern Echo. He logged three crosses (zero accurate), three corners, four tackles (two won) and two interceptions in 76 minutes.

Analysis: A knock indicates why despite Newcastle United losing 2-0, Sven Botman replaced Trippier, the Magpies' most offensive defender. Because of the undisclosed problem, his injury status is a game-time decision for Newcastle's next game, currently Sunday at AFC Bournemouth.
