Whips in three crosses

Ampadu generated two shots (zero on goal), three crosses (two accurate) and two chances created in Saturday's 1-0 loss against Manchester City.

Analysis: Ampadu was a decent spark in the midfield with two shots, two chances created and three crosses, a decent outing but not altering the result. The midfielder has still only missed three starts all season, although his defensive role has limited him to only two goal contributions.

Delivers crucial assist

Ampadu assisted once to go with three crosses (two accurate) and four chances created in Saturday's 1-0 win against Fulham. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 41st minute.

Analysis: Ampadu set his side up for the win, as he drifted a cross in for Lukas Nmecha, who buried the winning goal from the center of the box in the first minute of extra time. The assist marked the first of the campaign for Ampadu, who set a season high with four chances created in the match. On the other end, this was the first time in nine outings he failed to nab an interception, but he managed to log a tackle won for a third straight match.

Suspension over

Ampadu is no longer banned and is an option moving forward.

Analysis: Ampadu is back from his ban after one game out, no longer serving his ban due to yellow card accumulation. The midfielder should immediately return to the starting XI after his absence, as he has been a regular starter all season, with one goal in 17 appearances thus far.

Picks up fifth yellow card

Ampadu will be forced to serve a one-match ban after being shown his fifth yellow card of the season in Thursday's 0-0 draw with Liverpool.

Analysis: Ampadu is set to miss Sunday's meeting with Manchester United through suspension, becoming available again for a Jan. 7 trip to Newcastle. He was busy in defensive duties during the last game, leaving his averages at 5.2 balls recovered, 2.5 clearances and 2.4 tackles per contest. Both Ilia Gruev and Ao Tanaka could get increased playing time while Ampadu is ineligible.

Scores first league goal

Ampadu scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Saturday's 4-1 win against Crystal Palace.

Analysis: Ampadu scored his first Premier League goal with his lone shot of the match, marking his first goal involvement in the league. Prior to that, he had attempted eight shots, five of them from outside the box, and created five chances. Known primarily for his defensive work, the midfielder added three tackles and has now attempted at least one tackle in 14 of his 15 starts, totaling 35 tackles, along with 18 interceptions and 35 clearances.

Starting vs. West Ham

Ampadu (undisclosed) is in the starting lineup for Friday's match against West Ham United.

Analysis: Ampadu was initially deemed a late call for this matchup, but the skipper will occupy his regular midfield role. Ampadu has started in his previous six appearances this season, thriving on the defensive end with 17 tackles and 13 clearances.

Questionable to face West Ham

Ampadu is a late call for Friday's match against West Ham after missing training Wednesday, according to manager Daniel Farke. "Also, Ethan missed team training today, so also question marks about his availability."

Analysis: Ampadu appears to be set for some testing ahead of Friday's match after he was absent from training Wednesday, suffering from an undisclosed issue that will leave him as a late call. The club would be without their starting midfielder if he missed out on the contest, with the defender starting in six of the club's eight matches, only missing out due to injury. If he were to miss out, this would force the club into a change, with Ao Tanaka and Ilia Gruev as possible replacements.

Regular role in midfield

Ampadu has started four straight games since returning from a knee injury on Sep. 13.

Analysis: Ampadu missed two games after sustaining a knee injury in the season opener against Everton on Aug. 18, but the midfielder has stayed in the XI upon his return to action. Ampadu isn't much of a fantasy option despite being a regular starter for Leeds, though. Through five games, he's racked up one shot off target, one chance created, five crosses (two accurate), 12 tackles (six won) and 12 clearances.

Makes starting XI

Ampadu (knee) is in the starting XI for Saturday's clash against Fulham.

Analysis: Ampadu has overcome his MCL injury and returns to the starting XI for Saturday's match against Fulham. The Welshman had missed the last two Premier League games but was reintegrated into full training this week. His return is a big boost for Leeds United given his key role in midfield.

Could return Saturday

Ampadu (knee) has been reintegrated into big parts of training this week and will be a late call for Saturday's clash against Fulham, coach Daniel Farke said in the press conference "Both since the beginning of this week have reintegrated and joined in major parts of team training. Ethan even more so than Ao, because he was slightly ahead in terms of schedule. We have 48 more hours to take a late decision with them, it's possible we travel with both of them, just take one or neither to Fulham."

Analysis: Ampadu missed the last two Premier League games due to a MCL injury but is nearing a return after being reintegrated into big parts of training this week. This is good news for Leeds United since he is an undisputed starter and should get back to that role once fully back fit.

Suffers knee injury

Ampadu is out until after the international break due to an MCL injury, according to manager Daniel Farke, per Stuart Rayner of The Yorkshire Post. "It's an MCL (medial cruciate ligament) injury. He will be out at least until the international break. Normally he's back pretty quickly after injuries."

Analysis: Ampadu will not be available for the club for a few weeks after his early exit from their season opener, with the defender suffering a blow to the MCL that will leave him out until at least Sept. 13. This is a tough blow, as he did start their opener, with new signing Sean Longstaff as a likely replacement. He will hope for no setbacks with the injury in such a serious spot, hoping he only misses the two games and reclaims his starting role once fit.
