It was a poor showing from the backup, who has done little to show he's ready to replace Alisson if, or when, Liverpool move on from the Brazilian. Mamardashvili isn't getting much help from a dreadful defense in front of him, as Liverpool have now allowed seven goals in the last two matches.

Analysis: Mamardashvili would have a rough day in net Sunday despite stopping an early penalty chance from Erling Haaland, only making two more saves and allowing three goals. This ends his two-game clean sheet streak for the goalie, remaining at two in eight games this season. With Alisson (hamstring) possibly returning next match, this could be the goalie's final start in net for the time being.
Easy clean sheet

Analysis: Mamardashvili didn't have much to do during Tuesday's win, in the end he earned a clean sheet making just two saves. The best of which was a nice save on a driven Jude Bellingham shot. Mamardashvili has been a good replacement for Alisson, who is likely to be sidelined until after the November international break.

Mamardashvili is a risky option because he's never going to face many shots, so conceding even a single goal could sink his day, and he doesn't have a ton of save upside.

Analysis: Mamardashvili's first start in the Premier League ended in a heart-breaking defeat, but he still showed some good moments. Mamardashvili should be in for a large role with Alisson Becker (hamstring) expected to miss multiple weeks after the international break. Mamardashvili is arguably the best backup goalkeeper in England, and has major upside as long as Alisson is out.

Analysis: The future is now for Liverpool. Mamardashvili will defend Liverpools' net until Alisson Becker is fit to return. While he has not had a lot of playing time with the Reds', Mamardashvili started 71 times across the past two seasons with Valencia, keeping 21 clean sheets in that span. With Liverpool being the losers of two straight matchups, Mamardashvili could provide the spark that turns around their season.
Starts in cup win

Analysis: Mamardashvili has opened his time at Liverpool as Alisson's backup, as expected. It was always going to be tough for Mamardashvili to play immediately, but he was excellent in Tuesday's cup match. Mamardashvili is the long-term goalkeeper in Merseyside, and will be active in most cup competitions.
