Breaks goal drought
Yeremy Pino scored one goal to go with two shots (one on goal), three crosses (one accurate) and two corners in Saturday's 2-1 loss against Sunderland.
Analysis: Yeremy Pino pounced on a loose ball in the box following a corner Saturday and clinically flicked the ball into the far netting to score Crystal Palace's lone goal in their 2-1 road defeat to Sunderland. The goal marked the attacker's second of the campaign and first since scoring in a Nov. victory over Wolverhampton. Yeremy Pino has been named to the starting XI in each of Crystal Palace's last 11 league fixtures.
Assists in win
Yeremy Pino assisted once to go with two shots (zero on goal), three crosses (one accurate) and two corners in Sunday's 2-1 win versus Fulham.
Analysis: Pino provided an assist during Sunday's win, as well as taking a pair of corners and sending in three crosses. The winger has largely played in attacking midfield since joining Crystal Palace and has impressed in the new role. Pino failed to put either of his shots on goal during Sunday's clash but was solid as a creator, largely due to his role on set-pieces.
Nets first of season
Pino scored one goal to go with two shots (one on goal), seven crosses (zero accurate) and two corners in Saturday's 2-0 victory against Wolverhampton. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 59th minute.
Analysis: Pino netted his first goal of the season with a shot from outside the box, assisted by Adam Wharton in the 69th minute of play. This marked the third straight game with at least one shot and second straight game with a shot on target for Pino, who is also up to five games this season with at least two shots. Additionally, he accounted for four chances created, marking the second time this season that he delivered more than two.
Two shots Sunday
Yeremy Pino registered two shots (one on goal), two crosses (two accurate) and one corner in Sunday's 0-0 draw versus Brighton.
Analysis: Pino took a pair of shots during Sunday's draw, put one on goal, and was largely quite otherwise. It was a tough showing for Palace as a whole as they just couldn't break down a resolute Brighton backline. The winger has earned more and more minutes as he gets used to the Palace attack and is forming a nice partnership with Ismaila Sarr.
Eight crosses in win
Yeremy Pino had one shot (zero on goal), eight crosses (zero accurate) and six corners in Saturday's 2-0 victory against Brentford.
Analysis: Pino took six corners and attempted eight crosses during the match, though none were accurate. He remains without a goal or assist in the league for his new club this season, totaling 10 shots, seven chances created, 18 crosses, and 11 corners in eight appearances.
Quiet showing in draw with Cherries
Pino registered one shot (not on goal), three crosses (one accurate) and one corner in Saturday's 3-3 draw against AFC Bournemouth. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 62nd minute.
Analysis: Pino had minimal impact Saturday. The attacking midfielder delivered three crosses (one accurate) but did not manage to place any shots on target. The regular starter is yet to deliver any goal contributions this season, but he did find the net for Spain in the October international break.
In the XI
Pino (knee) is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Liverpool.
Analysis: Pino left the previous game with a knee injury, but the problem wasn't as severe as initially thought, and he'll remain in the XI. Pino will be part of the XI in his regular AM role in Palace's 3-4-2-1 system.
Trains, availability confirmed
Pino (knee) is an option for Saturday's match against Liverpool after dealing with a minor injury, according to manager Oliver Glasner. "[Yeremy] just had to rest on Tuesday. He had a bone bruise - he took a knock, knee on knee, which was very painful - but since Wednesday, he's been training for the rest of the week. He feels fine, so he's also available."
Analysis: Pino was expected to be n option for Saturday earlier in the week, and that has been confirmed by their manager, with the attacker fit after dealing with a bone bruise in his knee. This is huge news for the club after he started in their past two games. He will now look to remain in that role Saturday, although Ismaila Sarr (hamstring) is also returning and will fight for time in the attack as well.
Option for Saturday
Pino (knee) is an option for Saturday's match against Liverpool, according to James Savundra of Sky Sports.
Analysis: Pino was set for scans after suffering a knee injury Saturday and appears to have come out with only a minor issue, as he is now deemed fit for their contest against Liverpool. This is good news, as the club continues to regain numbers and a player who started in their past two outings. That said, he will hope to see the start again, but with the return of Ismaila Sarr (hamstring), quite a few people are bidding for time in the attacking midfielder roles, possibly pushing him to the bench.
Set for scans Sunday
Pino suffered a knee injury in Saturday's win over West Ham and will undergo scans to determine the severity of the injury, manager Oliver Glasner told Bobby Manzi of The News Hopper in the post-match press conference. "He had pain in his knee. We don't know exactly what it is, so we will assess him tomorrow, and I think he will have a scan. Hopefully, it's not too serious, but he couldn't continue playing."
Analysis: Pino had to leave the game during the HT break and was replaced by Justin Devenny, who could take his place in the XI when the Eagles take on Liverpool next Saturday, Sep. 27. Pino has six shots and two chances created in three EPL appearances (two starts) so far.
Forced off at halftime
Pino was subbed off during halftime of Saturday's game against West Ham United due to an apparent injury.
Analysis: It's unclear what kind of injury Pino sustained during the first half, but he didn't come out for the second 45 minutes. Further tests will determine whether the Spanish winger will have to miss time.
Three shots in first start
Yeremy Pino registered three shots (zero on goal), four crosses (zero accurate) and three corners in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Sunderland.
Analysis: Pino took three shots, including a 36th-minute one-on-one that he rolled wide, and later saw a follow-up deflected behind by Omar Alderete. He added four crosses and drew two fouls in his first start with Palace. The winger also sent in three corners, suggesting he could take some set-pieces moving forward.
Will be available Saturday
Pino (ankle) will be available to face Sunderland on Saturday, manager Oliver Glasner told media during his pre-match press conference Friday. "There is a good chance that Yeremy [Pino] makes his starting debut for Crystal Palace tomorrow. He just needed to rest during the international break. The first week of the international break he didn't train. He had a small injury from his last game at Villarreal. But then he started preparing on Monday."
Analysis: Pino was unable to play for Spain during the international break due to an ankle injury, but he's been training with Palace since last week, and all signs point to him being available this upcoming weekend. If he starts, it'd be Pino's first game in the XI since completing a move to Palace from Villarreal in late August. He already made his EPL debut against Aston Villa in the 3-0 win on Aug. 31, when he logged 19 minutes off the bench.
Transfers to Crystal Palace
Pino has completed a transfer to Crystal Palace from Villarreal, his new club confirmed Friday.
Analysis: Palace got the move done only a few days before the end of the transfer window, and Pino will presumably aim to fill the void left by Eberechi Eze, who signed with Arsenal. The 22-year-old winger, widely seen as one of the most exciting young players in LaLiga, signed a five-year deal with the Selhurst Park outfit and will be available for selection for Sunday's clash against Aston Villa.
