Keeps clean sheet Sunday
Andersen recorded 11 clearances and one interception in Sunday's 0-0 draw versus Nottingham Forest. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 75th minute.
Analysis: Andersen kept his sixth clean sheet of the season Sunday, his first since Dec. 27. He made 11 clearances for the sixth time this season, and he also intercepted one pass in his full 90 minutes of action. He has another good chance at a clean sheet Saturday versus Burnley.
Option for play
Andersen (illness) is an option for play heading into Wednesday's match against West Ham, according to manager Marco Silva, per Jon Harland of the Hounslow Herald. "Joa, 100% sure he's OK. He was not injured; it was an illness, and he's ready to go again."
Analysis: Andersen had to be a late absentee in the match over the weekend due to an illness, but has made a quick turnaround, with the defender deemed fit for Wednesday's contest. With 26 starts in 26 appearances this season, the defender should almost immediately return to the starting XI. He will look to add to his decent defensive record, notching 27 interceptions, 37 tackles adn 183 clearances on his way to five clean sheets.
Out with illness
Andersen is out for Sunday's match against Tottenham due to an illness, according to his club.
Analysis: Andersen is not with the team Sunday as he joins the sidelines as a late absentee, missing out due to an illness. This does leave the club without a starting defender, a rough loss as they look for a second straight win. That said, Issa Diop starts in his place, with Andersen likely to make a quick turnaround.
Credited with assist
Andersen assisted once to go with one cross (zero accurate) and one chance created in Saturday's 2-1 victory versus Brighton.
Analysis: Andersen set up Fulham's equalizer when one of his trademark long balls found Samuel Chukwueze, and the winger coolly slotted an effort past Bart Verbruggen. Andersen isn't known for his offensive contributions, though, and he's likely to earn most of his fantasy value as a defensive stalwart.
Keeps clean sheet Monday
Andersen had one tackle (zero won), eight clearances and two interceptions in Monday's 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 94th minute.
Analysis: Andersen kept his fourth clean sheet of the season Monday and his first since Nov. 22. After a rough recent run of form, Andersen and the defense stepped up in a big way, only allowing two shots on target by Forest. Andersen logged eight clearances, two interceptions, one blocked shot and won three duels in his full 90 minutes of action.
13 clearances Saturday
Andersen had one tackle (one won) and 13 clearances in Saturday's 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur.
Analysis: Andersen tied a season-high with 13 clearances Saturday, his third straight match with double digits. He and his fellow defenders only allowed Spurs to have one shot on target in the match, the fewest so far this season. He also won six duels, blocked one shot and won one tackle in his full 90 minutes of action.
Makes starting XI
Andersen (hamstring) is in the starting XI for Saturday's clash against Wolves.
Analysis: Andersen has recovered from the issue that kept him out against Newcastle and has been named in the starting XI for Saturday's contest against the Wolves. The center-back has been a regular starter this season and returns to the heart of the defense as expected. His presence should provide a boost to the back line given his consistency throughout the campaign.
Available vs. Wolverhampton
Andersen (hamstring) will be available for Saturday's game against Wolverhampton, manager Marco Silva told media in Friday's pre-match press conference. "Andersen is going to be in, definitely."
Analysis: Andersen was ruled out against Newcastle, but the injury wasn't believed to be serious, and the center-back will be back in the mix for this contest. Andersen has been a regular starter for the Cottagers this season, so he could return to the XI straight away if deemed fit enough.
Won't play vs. Newcastle
Andersen (hamstring) is out for Saturday's game against Newcastle United, manager Marco Silva told media Thursday. "Joachim, a muscular injury, not so serious, but he'll be out against Newcastle."
Analysis: Andersen suffered the injury in the 1-0 loss against Arsenal, and while it seems it won't be a serious problem, he won't be able to recover in time to face the Magpies. Isaac Cuenca could be an option to replace Andersen in the starting lineup Saturday, whereas Andersen's next chance to play will come against Wolverhampton on Saturday, Nov. 1.
Suffers hamstring injury
Andersen was forced off before the break in Saturday's 1-0 loss against Arsenal due to a hamstring injury, coach Marco Silva confirmed in a press conference, according to Four Four Two. "Joachim has a hamstring injury. He felt something. Now it's just for us a matter of time to know if it's something more serious or a minor injury. That is really what will come in the next few hours/days after the exams, because with a muscle injury, it's just to realise how serious it can be."
Analysis: Andersen will be assessed in the coming days to determine the extent of the hamstring injury he suffered in Saturday's defeat against the Gunners. The issue is muscular and raises concern about his short-term availability for the Cottagers. Issa Diop would be expected to step in at center-back if the Danish defender were to miss some time.
Off injured
Andersen was forced off in the 42nd minute of Saturday's match vs Arsenal.
Analysis: Andersen's day is done after being forced off with an injury. It is unclear how serious the injury is, though is a cause of concern as he was unable to finish the half out for Fulham. Issa Diop came on in relief of him.
