Marshall Munetsi
Not yet in full training
Munetsi (calf) has worked on the grass but not at the same pace as the rest of the squad, so Saturday's match against West Ham comes too soon for him, according to the club.
Analysis: Munetsi has been unable to feature over the last five league games and only recorded five minutes on the field in December. Before that, he scored one goal and assisted once across 13 appearances (nine starts). While his full recovery may still require more days, his return at some point of the year should bolster the attacking options of a team that has yet to achieve a win this season.
Will miss at least six weeks
Munetsi (calf) is set to miss at least six weeks, coach Rob Edwards said to the media, according to BeanymanSports.
Analysis: Munetsi suffered a calf injury late during the clash against Nottingham Forest and is set to miss several weeks, likely about six in order to recover from the issue. This will leave him sidelined until the clash against Newcastle on Jan. 18, his first chance to come back with the Wolves. Munetsi has been a bench option in three of his last four available games, therefore his absence won't impact much the starting XI.
Likely calf injury
Munetsi is thought to have suffered a calf injury, according to manager Rob Edwards, according to Liam Keen of the Express and Star. "Munetsi has had a scan today, we think he's pulled his calf."
Analysis: Munetsi was only on the field for five minutes Wednesday before he was forced off, with the club now thinking he has a calf injury after further scans. Unfortunately for the midfielder, this will likely mean he is set to miss time, now a late call to make for Monday's match against Manchester United. He has started in most of their games this season, so this will be something to monitor, especially with Joao Gomes suspended, likely forcing Jean-Ricner Bellegarde to take a less attacking role if Munetsi misses out.
Off injured against Forest
Munetsi (undisclosed) was forced off injured after a five minutes shift off bench in Wednesday's 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest, according to Liam Keen from Express and Star.
Analysis: Munetsi entered the pitch for five minutes and took a shot on target before being forced off with an apparent injury, leaving his teammates one man down for the rest of the game. The midfielder is already a doubt for Monday's clash against Manchester United, although a potential absence won't affect the starting XI since he seems to have lost his starting role due to his bad performances and new coach Rob Edwards.
Scores header in loss
Munetsi scored one goal to go with two shots (two on goal) in Sunday's 3-2 defeat versus Burnley.
Analysis: Munetsi's header pulled Wolverhampton level Sunday before their eventual capitulation in a 3-2 loss to Burnley. The goal was the midfielder's first of the season. In addition to his goal contribution, Munetsi broke-up play with two tackles (one won) and three clearances across his 84 minuets of play.
Assists for first return this year
Munetsi assisted once to go with one shot (zero on goal), one cross (one accurate) and two chances created in Saturday's 3-2 loss against Everton.
Analysis: Munetsi assisted Hwang Hee-Chan to bring Wolves back into the game at 1-1. He hadn't created a chance before this game, but has now created two. He has also taken a shot in each of these games and completed his second cross of the season.
