Bench option
Danso (toe) is on the bench for Sunday's match against Fulham.
Analysis: Danso is back in the squad Sunday after a toe injury left him out for the last month, fit enough for a bench role. With the. club currelty playing Palhinha out of position in the defense. This is a huge return for the club, likely to push for starting time soon to help their injured defense.
Returns to squad
Danso (toe) is back available for Sunday's clash against Fulham after resuming training this week, coach Igor Tudor said in the press conference.
Analysis: Danso has resumed training this week and is available again for Sunday's clash against Fulham after missing the last four matches due to a toe injury. The center-back will need to earn his place under new coach Igor Tudor and is expected to compete with Radu Dragusin for a starting role until Cristian Romero returns.
Returns to team training
Danso (toe) was spotted back in team training Wednesday and could be an option for Sunday's clash against Fulham, according to Sam Tabuteau from The Standard.
Analysis: Danso has missed the last four matches with a toe injury but looks to be closing in on a return after getting back on the training pitch Wednesday. The defender is trending toward being available for Sunday's trip to Craven Cottage and should be firmly in the mix if he checks all the boxes. That said, the Austrian will still have to earn the trust of new coach Igor Tudor and prove he deserves a regular spot in the starting back line moving forward.
Weeks before available
Danso (toe) is out for the next few weeks as he recovers, according to manager Thomas Frank. "Kevin. It's going forward. It's still weeks before he's available."
Analysis: Danso will not yet be an option and is still sidelined for the next few weeks, probably not returning until at least the end of the month. This is a major absence after two games already missed, likely to miss at least two to three more games. The club then continues with minimal options in the center of defense, with only Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin available.
Won't play vs. Man United
Danso (toe) won't be an option for Saturday's game against Manchester United, manager Thomas Frank told media during Thursday's press conference. "We will know a little bit more this week in terms of how long (he will be out). Hopefully it will not be too long."
Analysis: Judging by Frank's words, he'll miss the team's upcoming two matches at the latest, and if he's able to return within the month, he could probably be a late call to face Arsenal on Sunday, Feb. 22. Danso has been a solid depth piece for the Spurs, and in his absence, Pape Sarr and Joao Palhinha could emerge as backup alternatives for the center-back position as well as Radu Dragusin.
Dealing with toe injury
Danso missed Sunday's 2-2 draw against Manchester City due to a toe injury, coach Thomas Frank said in a press conference, according to Sam Tabuteau from The Standard. "Kevin, another quite unlucky one. He hyperextended his big toe when landing on the foot of an opponent against Frankfurt, and that means a ligament snapped in the big toe. He was extremely unlucky. We don't know the extent of it, we have an appointment next week to clarify that."
Analysis: Danso will be evaluated this week after suffering a toe injury during last week's Champions League clash against Frankfurt, which forced him to miss Sunday's draw against Manchester City. The defender is expected to learn the extent of the issue in the coming days and whether he will need time on the sidelines. If he is ruled out, it would be a blow for the Spurs, as he has started four of his last five appearances, and his absence would force an adjustment, with Pape Sarr emerging as a potential candidate to see increased playing time in the defensive area.
Out Sunday
Danso is out for Sunday's match against Manchester City due to an undisclosed injury.
Analysis: Danso is not with the team Sunday and adds another defender to the injury list for the club, with the defender not on the team sheet. This is rough for the club after he started in their last three games and is already without Micky van de Ven (undisclosed), forcing Radu Dragusin into his first start all season.
Keeps clean sheet versus Palace
Danso generated two crosses (zero accurate) and three tackles in Sunday's 1-0 win against Crystal Palace. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 5th minute.
Analysis: Danso made his first start since Dec. 2 Sunday with Cristian Romero (suspension) out. He played very well in his captain's absence as he helped keep a clean sheet for the second time this season. He recorded a whopping 16 clearances, won 11 duels and blocked one shot in his full 90 minutes of action. He will likely return to the bench Thursday at Brentford with Romero's ban now over.
Excellent in Sunday's clean sheet
Danso registered one tackle (one won) and 19 clearances in Sunday's 3-0 victory against Everton.
Analysis: With Cristian Romero (groin) still out, Danso made his third consecutive start (all competitions) Sunday. He kept his first clean sheet in the Premier League, making a whopping 19 clearances, winning six duels, blocking two shots and winning one tackle on the defensive end. He played the full 90 minutes for the second time in the Premier League this season. Romero should be able to make his return somewhat soon, which will put Danso back on the bench.
