Nearing return
Bentancur (hamstring) is closing in on a return, according to manager Igor Tudor.
Analysis: Bentancur has been out for around two months now after hamstring surgery, but is now nearing a return to play, with the midfielder claimed to be edging closer to being an option. He will focus on recovery over the next week as the club takes a break for international play, potentially almost an option on the other side of the break. He started in 17 of his 20 appearances before the injury and will likely see a decent role once again when he is fit.
Undergoes hamstring surgery
Bentancur underwent a hamstring surgery on Tuesday and will start his rehabilitation with the medical staff, the club announced.
Analysis: Bentancur suffered a hamstring injury during the clash against Bournemouth last week and has now undergone surgery on his right hamstring on Tuesday. The Uruguay international is now starting his rehabilitation with the medical staff and is expected to miss several months while recovering. Joao Palhinha is expected to take on a larger role during his absence, while the club is looking to add an additional midfielder to the roster, with the likes of Conor Gallagher mentioned in reports.
