Currently in modified training
Dasilva (knee) is in modified training with the senior squad and progressing well in his rehabilitation as he may be available to be in a matchday squad before the end of the Premier League season, the club announced.
Analysis: Dasilva is back on the grass in modified team training as he continues to make steady progress in his recovery from a long term ACL injury. The midfielder is still targeting a return to a matchday squad before the end of the Premier League season, though after such an extended spell on the sidelines he is likely to be eased back in with a rotational role once he is fully reintegrated into the Bees setup.
Joins team training
Dasilva (knee) has returned to team training, according to manager Keith Andrews. "Josh is back in the group. We don't want to put too much pressure on that, but we're very excited to have him back in the group."
Analysis: Dasilva is still battling a knee injury, but has taken a major step in recovery after joining team training. That said, the club seems unlikely to push him for a quick return, slowly working him back up to fitness while they monitor the injury. The hope will be that he can play again this season after almost two full seasons away from playing time, hoping to earn the option for the 2026/27 season after inking a one-year deal to begin this season.
Progressing well in recovery
Dasilva (knee) is progressing well in his recovery and hopes to return soon to a team environment, coach Keith Andrews said in the press conference. "Josh is doing well. The road for Josh has been long and hard, and he's shown phenomenal character and resilience to get to this point. We're still hopeful that we'll see him out on the grass in a team environment sooner rather than later. He's working tirelessly with the medics and performance team to come back in the best possible place."
Analysis: Dasilva has been back training individually on grass since last month and will hope to return soon to a team environment. The midfielder has been progressing well with the medical and performance staff in his rehabilitation from an ACL injury and could resume team training in the coming month if everything goes as planned.
Back on grass
Dasilva (knee) is back on grass and set to return to team training next month, according to manager Keith Andrews. "Josh is back on the grass and he's doing pretty well."
Analysis: Dasilva is still regaining fitness from his torn ACL, but is seeing progress this week, as the midfielder has returned to training on grass. This is progress in the right direction as he will now plan to join team training in the next month. That could mean he earns his return before the end of 2025, last playing in the 2023/24 season.
A month from training
Dasilva (knee) is still a month away from team training, he announced in an interview."Right now, I'm just doing rehab outside, doing ball work and running. I've been doing that for quite a few weeks now, so hopefully, within the next month or so, I can start training with the team."
Analysis: Dasilva suffered a serious knee injury in early 2024 and has been sidelined for almost two full years and has required three surgeries. The midfielder is hoping to make his return to action in the coming months after signing a one-year deal with Brentford. When back up to speed he could play a depth role during the back half of the season.
Back with Brentford
Dasilva signed with Brentford until the end of the season, with an option for the 2026/27 campaign.
Analysis: Dasilva has been rehabbing with Brentford while out of contract and injured. He has evidently progressed in his recovery and is now fit enough for a role back with the team. He's had no minutes or pre-season preparation, so Dasilva is still likely some time away from any serious first team time.
