Feb 1, 2026

Concedes late goal

Analysis: Verbruggen warded off multiple Everton attempts and even kept out Jake O'Brien's 97th minute attempt, but parried it straight into Beto's path. Verbruggen has now accumulated nine saves and five clearances across the last four games, but committed an error and also given away a penalty in that span.

Jan 28, 2026

Beaten twice Saturday

Verbruggen made two saves and allowed two goals in Saturday's 2-1 loss against Fulham.

Analysis: Even though Verbruggen has produced solid displays between the posts for the Seagulls, he's struggled to get things going at times and has gone three straight games without a clean sheet. He has allowed multiple goals in five of his last 10 outings, so his fantasy upside is not very high and mostly matchup-based right now.

Jan 8, 2026

Concedes one against City

Verbruggen had three saves and allowed one goal in Wednesday's 1-1 draw versus Manchester City.

Analysis: Verbruggen would handle a tough City team quite well Wednesday, blocking three shots and only allowing one from the penalty spot, bailed out on a few occasions by poor attempts. This comes after he earned a clean sheet last time out, still with five this season. He face Bournemouth in their next league contest on Jan. 19, allowing two goals the first time facing the club this season.

Analysis: It's hard to blame Verbruggen too much on the own goal, and he did make five saves for his side. He should have better numbers against West Ham on Tuesday, as the side has only scored 19 goals in 18 EPL matches.

Dec 22, 2025

Beaten twice

Analysis: Verbruggen faced four shots Saturday and was only able to stop a pair of them. On a day where the team in front of him offered nothing in terms of goal support it's hard to put the blame on Verbruggen. He would have wanted the first goal back, but the second was an unstoppable header from close range that Verbruggen had no hope of getting to.

His best stop came in the 78th minute when he reacted sharply to parry Evann Guessand's header, only to see Donyell Malen score from the rebound. He also dealt with a series of inswinging corners under heavy traffic as Villa ramped up set-piece pressure. Verbruggen stopped a series of decent games as he conceded only one goal and secured three clean sheets in the four games before this one. The goalie will look to show a better figure against West Ham United on Sunday.

Dec 1, 2025

Keeps clean sheet Sunday

Verbruggen made three saves and allowed zero goals in Sunday's 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest.

Analysis: Verbruggen kept a composed clean sheet as Brighton absorbed Forest's late pressure. His standout moment came after the hour mark when he stayed big and blocked Igor Jesus' low one-on-one effort. He handled crosses reliably and managed the tempo with calm distribution when Brighton dropped deeper. This shutout was his third in the last four games, highlighting the good form of the Seagulls. He will look to find a new one against Aston Villa on Wednesday.

Nov 23, 2025

Saves penalty to secure win

Verbruggen registered three saves and allowed one goal in Saturday's 2-1 win over Brentford. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 94th minute.

Analysis: Verbruggen was sent the wrong way by Igor Thiago's first-half penalty and had relatively little to do outside two routine stops. The match turned in his favour at the death when he waited out Igor Thiago's run-up and got down sharply to save the stoppage-time penalty that allowed the Seagulls to secure the win. That intervention preserved Brighton's comeback and elevated a solid outing into a match-defining one. Verbruggen will hope to build on that performance against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
