Suspension served
Potts is eligible going forward following a three-game league suspension.
Analysis: Potts received a red card the last time he played, which left him out for a few weeks, but he had been used mostly as a substitute over the last few matches before that event. His return will increase the team's defensive midfield depth behind current starters Mateus Fernandes and Tomas Soucek.
Sees red Saturday
Potts received a red card in the extra time of Saturday's FA Cup clash against Burton and will be suspended for three games in the Premier League.
Analysis: Potts is set to serve a three-game Premier League suspension after seeing red in Saturday's FA Cup matchup against Burton. The midfielder will be unavailable for next three games against Bournemouth, Liverpool and Fulham but will be cleared to return for the clash against Manchester City on March. 14. Having started just once across his last five Premier League available games, his absence should have only a limited ripple effect on the Hammers' starting XI.
Season high five interceptions
Potts had two tackles (one won), one clearance and five interceptions in Tuesday's 1-1 draw against Manchester United.
Analysis: Potts returned to the starting lineup following five consecutive substitute appearances and put in a strong defensive performance. The midfielder led his team with a season-high five interceptions and added two tackles and one clearance.
Dishes assist in loss
Potts assisted once to go with one shot (zero on goal), two crosses (zero accurate) and one corner in Sunday's 3-2 loss against Aston Villa.
Analysis: Potts earned his first assist of the campaign, as he set up Jarrod Bowen for a shot from close range in the 24th minute of action. This marked the second straight outing where Potts accounted for a chance created, and he is up to a total of seven chances created through 11 appearances on the year. Additionally, this was the second time in three outings that he recorded a shot, but he has yet to record a shot on target.
Starting in midfield
Potts (leg) is in the starting XI for Saturday's clash against Bournemouth.
Analysis: Potts returned to training after suffering a dead leg against Burnley just before the international break. The midfielder has started in the Hammers' last two games and now holds his role from the opening whistle on Saturday against the Cherries.
Back in training
Potts (leg) is back in training with West Ham and could be an option for Saturday's game against Bournemouth.
Analysis: Potts returned to training after suffering a dead leg against Burnley just before the international break. The midfielder has started in the Hammers' last two games and could very well remain in the XI if he's cleared to play this weekend.
Suffers dead leg
Potts was forced off in the 62nd minute of Saturday's 3-2 win over Burnley after suffering a dead leg, coach Nuno Espirito Santo said in a press conference, according to Hammers News. "He has a dead leg. [Only] a dead leg. I think [he should be available for Bournemouth]. It is very painful now but, with ice, he will recover."
Analysis: Potts contributed impressively in Saturday's win against the Clarets for his second straight Premier League start, creating three chances and delivering five crosses, both season highs, while also adding solid defensive work with three tackles and six clearances. The youngster also took five corners, highlighting his growing influence for the Hammers. That said, he was forced off around the hour mark due to a dead leg but is expected to recover fully over the break, as coach Nuno Espirito Santo believes he will be available against Bournemouth on Nov. 22.
Off injured Saturday
Potts was forced off the field injured in the 62nd minute of Saturday's 3-2 win over Burnley with a likely hamstring issue.
Analysis: Potts was taken off the field Saturday after suffering a likely hamstring injury in just his second league start of the season. If it's only a tweak, Potts could remain in the XI out of the break, but it'll be a close call for the Nov. 22 contest. It's more likely he'll have to miss time with the hope it not turning into anything severe.
Full 90 in win
Potts went the full 90 and created a pair of chances during Sunday's 3-1 win over Newcastle.
Analysis: Potts was in the starting XI for the first time Sunday, and he played the full 90. The midfielder was at the heart of the best performance of the season for West Ham, so this could be a breakout showing. If he can build on this Potts could play himself into a substantial role in midfield.
