Five crosses in away loss
Lucas Pires had one shot (one on goal), five crosses (zero accurate) and two corners in Saturday's 2-0 loss versus Brighton.
Analysis: Lucas Pires attempted five crosses but was unable to complete any. He also took two corners, bringing him up to the joint-third highest set-piece taker for Burnley. The full-back has only started five matches this season. The defender also got the first shot on target of the season in this game, coming from his seventh shot of the campaign.
Back from suspension
Pires is no longer suspended and is an option moving forward for the club.
Analysis: Pires has served his suspension due to the red card he received against Newcastle and is set to return in the next contest. The defender started the last game but has mainly been a bench option this season for the Clarets, therefore his return for Saturday's clash against Bournemouth is unlikely to impact much the starting XI.
First half red card
Pires was shown a red card in the 43rd minute of Saturday's 2-1 loss to Newcastle.
Analysis: Pires was shown his marching orders in the first half of Saturday's outing, sent off after denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity. Luckily for the club, this was only his second appearance of the season, so it will be a small hit to the club. He will be suspended to face Fulham next match, returning to face Bournemouth on Dec. 20.
Season debut in Cup
Pires made his first appearance of the season during Tuesday's 2-1 win over Derby.
Analysis: Pires didn't appear in the first two Premier League matches but started and played 90 minutes during Tuesday's clash in the Carabao Cup. He didn't get on the scoresheet Tuesday but was one of the best player son the pitch throughout the match, and was crucial throughout. Pires likely won't play much in the Premier League, barring injuries in the starting XI, despite starting 32 matches in the Championship last season.
