Concedes penalty in loss
Magassa had one shot (zero on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Saturday's 3-0 loss to Wolverhampton.
Analysis: Magassa was substituted-off at halftime Saturday of West Ham United's 3-0 defeat at Wolverhampton. Across his abbreviated 45-minute performance, the midfielder made four tackles (three won) and one interception. He also mistimed a challenge that awarded Wolverhampton a penalty kick resulting in their second goal. Over his last five appearances (five starts) Magassa has played past the 83rd minute on just once.
Goal with brilliant performance
Magassa scored one goal to go with two shots (one on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Thursday's 1-1 draw versus Manchester United.
Analysis: Magassa played his best game since arriving, scoring his first goal for the team from his first shot on target in eight appearances, while producing a season-high four tackles, five interceptions, and one clearance.
Signs with West Ham
Magassa completed a transfer to West Ham from Monaco, the club announced Friday.
Analysis: Magassa makes the switch from Monaco to London, where he will join West Ham as another option in holding midfield. With Edson Alavrez out of the way there's the chance for Magassa to be an immediate starter for the Hammers. He was a consistent option for Monaco in the last two seasons, making 21 appearances in both, but never nailing down the starting job. Magassa is also competent at center-back, a role he could play in West Ham's back-three.
