Scores equalizer
Talbi scored one goal to go with four shots (two on goal), three crosses (zero accurate) and one chance created in Sunday's 2-1 victory against Newcastle United.
Analysis: Talbi would get Sunderland back into the match just after halftime, as the attacker would find the back of the net in the 57th minute to equalize the match. This is his first goal in some time, with his last coming Feb. 2 against Burnley. It brings the attacker to four goals on the season, up to five goal contributions in his first Premier League season.
Scores Monday
Talbi scored one goal to go with two shots (one on goal) and two chances created in Monday's 3-0 win versus Burnley.
Analysis: Talbi scored during Monday's clash, making the most of his only shot on goal and creating a pair of chances. It was a strong performance all around, and Talbi did well throughout the match. He could have had an assist or two with some better finishing around him, but still a dominant win with a goal and no shots allowed is an excellent performance for the entire team.
Returns to club
Tabli (international duty) is back with the club and an option moving forward, according to manager Regis Le Bris. "Habib and Chemsdine are back in training. They could be available for our next fixture."
Analysis: Tabli has returned from AFCON after his runner-up campaign with Morocco, having joined Sunderland for training Thursday. He should not be deemed an option for his club, having missed around a month while on international duty. He started in nine of his 16 appearances before his absence, but was more of a bench option before AFCON, likely to return to that role in his first match back.
Called up with Morocco
Talbi has been called up by Morocco for the AFCON starting Dec. 21 and ending Jan. 18, according to Actu Foot Afrique.
Analysis: Talbi was called by Morocco for the AFCON and will miss all the games until at least the clash against Everton on Jan. 10, although he could miss more games if Morocco perform well in the competition. The forward has been a regular starter for Sunderland this season, therefore his absence will force a change in the starting XI, with Brian Brobbey likely getting a larger role in the frontline while he is out.
Nets for draw
Talbi scored one goal to go with two shots (two on goal) in Wednesday's 1-1 draw against Liverpool.
Analysis: Talbi made the most of limited chances Wednesday, producing a beautiful finish to earn the point at Anfield. It was a special finish and one that embodied a perfect start to the season with Sunderland. Talbi won't expect to score a wondergoal every week, but it's still a nice boon in a tough match.
Starting regularly
Talbi has started in six of Sunderland's seven matches in the Premier League this season.
Analysis: Talbi came off the bench in the loss against Manchester United before the break, but he had been a regular starter before that. The winger has one assist, eight shots (one on target), five chances created, 20 crosses (four accurate) and eight clearances this season.
Notches assist in debut
Talbi assisted once to go with two crosses (one accurate) and one chance created in Saturday's 3-0 victory against West Ham United.
Analysis: In his debut with Sunderland, Talbi set up Wilson Isidor for a shot from the left side of the box, resulting in their squad's third goal of the match. Talbi also had a total of 23 completed passes, before subbing out just prior to the final whistle. After the strong start, he should have plenty more opportunity to show what he can do for his new club.
