Analysis: Rigg would come on for a third straight start Sunday and have a solid match as he tries to find a role in the team, recording three shots while setting up numerous other opportunities. However, the midfielder remains without a goal contribution this campaign, starting in eight of his 13 appearances. He will hope one comes soon as he earns more time, likely working at a bigger role next campaign.
Signs long-term contract
Rigg has signed a new long-term contract with Sunderland, according to his club.
Analysis: Rigg is extending his stay with Sunderland a bit longer after receiving a new contract, now signed with the club until 2030. He was an important part of their promotion team last season, starting in 37 of his 45 appearances while bagging four goals and an assist. That said, he will hope to help the team remain in the Premier League, only appearing off the bench once thus far.
