Two shot attempts in draw
Marc Guiu recorded two shots (one on goal) and two chances created in Saturday's 0-0 draw versus AFC Bournemouth. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 85th minute.
Analysis: Marc Guiu matched a team-high Saturday with two shot attempts (one on goal) across his 58-minute shift as Chelsea were unable to breakdown Bournemouth in a 0-0 road draw. The teenage striker was called into action in the first half after fellow-striker Liam Delap was forced off due to a shoulder injury. Guiu will likely be competing with the versatile Pedro Neto for the No. 9 role in Chelsea's lineup when presumed starter Joao Pedro requires rest.
Assists off the bench
Marc Guiu assisted once to go with zero corners and one chance created in Saturday's 2-0 win over Burnley.
Analysis: Guiu didn't play much but made the most of his time on the pitch with an assist in the 2-0 victory. He's likely going to see more playing time Tuesday in UCL action against Barcelona, a team which has conceded 22 goals across 17 La Liga and UCL matches.
Scores opener Wednesday
Guiu scored one goal to go with two shots (two on goal) in Wednesday's 5-1 victory against Ajax.
Analysis: Guiu bagged his first goal of the season, a strike in the 18th minute assisted by Wesley Fofana which opened up the scoring immediately after Kenneth Taylor's red card. It was Guiu's first start of the season and he recorded two shots on target before he was subbed off at halftime for Tyrique George.
Option off bench
Guiu (undisclosed) is on the bench for Saturday's game against Brighton.
Analysis: Guiu suffered a minor injury in training and didn't play in the Carabao Cup earlier this week, but the Spaniard is back in the mix and will be an option off the bench. Even though he adds up to the attack, Guiu isn't expected to hold any fantasy upside while being rooted to a bench role.
Suffers minor issue in training
Guiu (undisclosed) suffered a minor issue in training and missed Tuesday's 2-1 win against Lincoln in the Carabao Cup as a precaution, coach Enzo Maresca said in a press conference, according to BBC. "The reason why is because yesterday in the game preparation he felt something, nothing important, but with Liam Delap already out we did not want to take a risk. So tonight we give Ty [George] and Jamie a chance."
Analysis: Guiu felt discomfort in training while preparing for Tuesday's clash against Lincoln in the Carabao Cup and ultimately missed the game as a precaution since coach Enzo Maresca didn't want to risk him with starting striker Liam Delap (hamstring) already sidelined. Guiu will be assessed in the coming hours to determine if he can be available for Chelsea against Brighton on Saturday, with the hope of playing his first minutes with the Blues this season after his loan recall from Sunderland.
Back to Chelsea
Guiu has returned to Chelsea from his loan with Sunderland, according to his former club.
Analysis: Guiu is back with Chelsea just ahead of the transfer deadline closing, as the forward doesn't even make it a month into his loan before returning. This is a baffling move by Chelsea after adding plenty of new transfers to their attack this summer, now gaining back a forward. He could find a role in a rotational to reserve role, with Pedro Neto and Liam Delap ahead of him in the pecking order, while David Fofana, Nicolas Jackson and Deivid Washington still hold a spot in the club.
