Onyeka (not injury related) is returning to Brentford following his participation in AFCON with Nigeria, the club announced Friday.
Analysis: Onyeka has returned to Brentford after representing the Super Eagles in the AFCON, where Nigeria earned the third place. Onyeka will be a depth option in midfield for the Bees, but he's not expected to have a lot of fantasy appeal in most formats.
Leaving for AFCON
Onyeka is departing for AFCON with Nigeria, and will miss at least three weeks.
Analysis: Onyeka hasn't played in the last two months even when fit, and has hardly been in the squad this season, so his absence shouldn't be a big blow. Still the midfielder will leave Brentford down some depth if any injuries pop up during a busy part of the schedule.

Onyeka assisted once to go with zero corners and one chance created in Saturday's 2-1 defeat versus Sunderland.
Analysis: Onyeka provided the key pass for the lone Brentford goal Saturday as the Bees fell in a narrow 2-1 defeat at Sunderland. The assist marked the midfielder's first Premier League goal contribution since the 2023 - 2024 campaign after he spent the 2024 - 2025 season on loan at FC Augsburg. Onyeka has appeared in each of Brentford's first three league fixtures and created one chance across 63 minutes of play.
