Consistent starter for Everton
Mykolenko has started in all but one game he's been available for Everton in the current EPL campaign.
Analysis: The lone instance in which Mykolenko was an unused sub was the Feb. 23 loss to Manchester United, but other than that, he's been in the XI in every game he's been cleared to play. Don't expect that to change if the defender stays healthy, although he doesn't contribute much in the major fantasy categories. In 26 EPL starts, Mykolenko has one assist, no goals, nine shots and 18 chances created.
Records assist, own goal in win
Mykolenko assisted once to go with an own goal, four crosses (one accurate) and one chance created in Saturday's 2-1 victory against Fulham. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 65th minute.
Analysis: Mykolenko had the misfortune of getting in the way of a ball that Jordan Pickford had saved in the first half, sending it into his own net, but the full-back made up for that action with a pass that allowed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to score in the 75th minute Saturday. Although it's not unusual for Mykolenko to push forward, the assist was only his first direct contribution to the score sheet in 22 club starts this season. He has tallied eight shots (two on goal), 15 crosses (five accurate), 19 clearances and six interceptions over his last five games in all competitions.
In starting squad
Mykolenko (undisclosed) is in the starting XI for Saturday's clash against Fulham.
Analysis: Mykolenko is in the starting squad for Saturday's clash against Fulham after recovering from the knock that kept him out last week and returning to training. The defender resumes his role at left-back after missing his first start since Sept. 13. He is still searching for his first goal contribution of the campaign after 20 appearances.
Option for Saturday
Mykolenko (undisclosed) is an option for Saturday's match against Fulham, according to manager David Moyes. "He is back training, so he's back and in the squad. He's fit and available."
Analysis: Mykolenko has suffered a knock last week that kept him out of play, but after training this week, the defender has been deemed fit again and an option for Saturday. The defender will likely return to his spot at left-back, as his last missed start ahead of their previous game was Sept. 13. That said, he is still in search of his first goal contribution this campaign, still without one in 20 appearances.
Suffers knock in training
Mykolenko (undisclosed) suffered a knock in the final training session ahead of Saturday's clash against Brighton and is ultimately ruled out for the game, coach David Moyes said to the media.
Analysis: Mykolenko won't be available to feature in Saturday's clash against the Seagulls after suffering a knock in the final training session ahead of the game and being unable to recover in time. The left-back will hope to return next week ahead of next Saturday's clash against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Jarrad Branthwaite is set to start at left-back on Saturday for the Toffees in place of Mykolenko.
Whips in four crosses
Mykolenko generated one shot (zero on goal), four crosses (one accurate) and two chances created in Monday's 1-1 draw versus Leeds United.
Analysis: Mykolenko would have a decent two-way game despite not seeing a goal contribution or the clean sheet, with one shot, two chances created and four crosses in the attack to go along with one interception, two tackles and three clearances in the defense. The defender is still working towards his first goal contribution this season, with three goal contributions last season in 35 appearances, already appearing in 20 games this campaign.
One tackle in clean sheet
Mykolenko generated one cross (zero accurate) and one tackle in Tuesday's 2-0 win versus Nottingham Forest.
Analysis: Mykolenko has not missed a game for Everton since mid-September and has played a central role in the club's defensive improvement. The Toffees have recorded six clean sheets in their last nine matches, with the fullback totaling 16 tackles in that span, including at least one in each of his last eight appearances, while adding eight interceptions and 46 clearances with a minimum of two in every game. Offensively, he created six chances, attempted one shot and delivered 23 crosses, with at least one in each game.
Four starts since the break
Mykolenko has gone the full 90 minutes in all four of Everton's matches since the October international break, reinforcing his status as an undisputed starter under coach David Moyes.
Analysis: Mykolenko has continued to remain a key figure for Everton this season, having played 540 minutes without rest in the Premier League. He has created three chances and provided two successful crosses in this time, limiting his overall attacking impact. The Everton defense has also kept only one clean sheet in the six Premier League games Mykolenko has participated in. Mykolenko should continue to play full matches going forward, but his lack of attacking and defensive success is concerning.
Three starts since return
Mykolenko (undisclosed) made three consecutive starts following his return from injury, confirming he is now fully fit for Everton.
Analysis: Mykolenko dealt with an injury earlier in the season that now seems behind him since the defender has started three straight games following his return, contributing 10 crosses, five interceptions, and 16 clearances in that span while helping the team secure a key win last time out against Crystal Palace.
Makes Starting XI
Mykolenko (undisclosed) is in the starting XI for Saturday's clash against Liverpool.
Analysis: Mykolenko has recovered from his recent undisclosed injury and returns directly to Everton's starting XI for Saturday's Merseyside derby against Liverpool. He missed international duty with Ukraine and the previous club game but was able to work his way back to full fitness in time. The left-back has been a locked-in starter for Everton when available and is expected to keep that role moving forward.
Could return against Liverpool
Mykolenko (undisclosed) is making progress and could return for Saturday's Merseyside derby against Liverpool, coach David Moyes said in the press conference.
Analysis: Mykolenko is making progress towards a return from his undisclosed injury that made him miss international duty with Ukraine and the last game with the Toffees. That said, the defender hasn't been ruled out for the Merseyside derby against Liverpool on Saturday and could maybe be part of the squad. This is good news since Mykolenko has been an undisputed starter at left-back for Everton and should claim that role back once at full fitness.
Not available Saturday
Mykolenko (undisclosed) is ruled out for Saturday's clash against Aston Villa.
Analysis: Mykolenko made his return from injury in the Carabao Cup and played a full match against Wolves before linking up with Ukraine. He later left the national team camp after noticing the previous issue hadn't fully cleared up. That said, while the problem is believed to be minor, Mykolenko is still not available for Saturday's match against Aston Villa.
Could be available Saturday
Mykolenko (undisclosed) could be available for Saturday's clash against Aston Villa, coach David Moyes said in the press conference. "Myko's around it. We need to see if he's going to make it or not. Hopefully, he might be okay. He felt something in the game against Wolves. He felt he was fine to go with Ukraine and go with them. But once he got there, he felt it maybe wasn't quite right, so came away from it."
Analysis: Mykolenko returned from injury in a Carabao Cup game before completing 90 minutes against Wolves right before the international break and joined the Ukraine squad happy and fit. That said, he felt during the camp that he wasn't quite right with the issue and decided to leave to head back to the Toffees. That said, the problem appears to be minor and if he is near full fitness Mykolenko will likely start in the backline against the Villains on Saturday. If he can't make it James Garner will likely switch to left back instead of his natural midfield role.
Suffers setback with Ukraine
Mykolenko (undisclosed) suffered a setback from his injury and has been withdrawn from the Ukraine squad, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Analysis: Mykolenko has been spotted saying goodbye to his Ukraine teammates while on international duty as he is heading back to Everton to recover from a setback suffered from his injury. The left-back recently returned from injury in the Carabao Cup game against Mansfield Town before playing the full match against Wolves on Saturday. That said, this setback is a blow for the Toffees since he will have to be replaced in the starting squad if he has to miss time on the sidelines, with James Garner a possible option to switch to left-back instead of his natural midfield role or youngster Adam Aznou who still has not featured with the senior team yet.
Feeling good after Cup start
Mykolenko could be ready to start against Wolves on Saturday after returning from injury in Wednesday's Carabao Cup game, coach David Moyes said in the press conference. "I hope so. It was good to have him back because we've been short in recent weeks, so getting him back is really important for us."
Analysis: Mykolenko is working towards full fitness after making his return from injury in Wednesday's Carabao Cup game against Mansfield Town. The left-back could potentially make the starting XI on Saturday against Wolves according to his coach. The Ukrainian made 35 appearances last season, all as a starter, and helped the Toffees secure 10 clean sheets, establishing himself as an important piece in the backline when fit.
Returns Wednesday
Mykolenko (undisclosed) started and played 87 minutes during Wednesday's Carabao Cup match against Mansfield Town.
Analysis: Mykolenko was deemed not fit for Sunday's clash with Brighton, but was surprisingly eligible for 87 minutes against Mansfield Town. It's an interesting situation for the defender, but if he's back to full fitness he's likely the top choice at left-back immediately in all competitions.
