Fit to face Liverpool
Bassey (back) is fit to face Liverpool on Saturday, according to manager Marco Silva.
Analysis: Bassey suffered a back injury while on international duty with Nigeria, but Silva confirmed the center-back will be available to face the Reds this weekend. Bassey has been a regular presence at the back for Fulham this season with 21 starts out of 23 EPL appearances, and if he's fit, he should return to the starting XI right away.
Suffers back injury
Bassey (back) has withdrawn from the Nigerian national team squad for the upcoming friendlies against Iran and Jordan due to an injury, according to NGSuper Eagles.
Analysis: Bassey's sudden withdrawal from international duty is a concern for Fulham, with the April. 11 clash against Liverpool coming up quickly after the break. The severity of the issue is still unclear, but if it keeps him sidelined, Jorge Cuenca would be in line to step into the starting role in central defense for the Cottagers.
Two shots Sunday
Bassey registered two shots (zero on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Sunday's 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 66th minute.
Analysis: Bassey tied a season high with two shots Sunday, though he failed to put either on target. He played well on the defensive end too, recording three blocked shots, three clearances and one interception as the team held Spurs to just one shot on target. He played the full 90 minutes in his third consecutive match.
Returns from AFCON
Bassey (international duty) has returned to Fulham from AFCON.
Analysis: Bassey is no longer in Africa after time with the Nigerian international team, returning to Fulham from AFCON. He has only missed one start in 16 appearances this season and is a lead defender in the middle for the club, more than likely to reclaim his spot immediately.
Headed to AFCON
Bassey is departing Fulham to link up with Nigeria for AFCON.
Analysis: Bassey will miss at least a few weeks with his national team and could be absent even longer with Nigeria expected to make a deep run. Bassey's absence is a huge blow in the starting XI, likely bringing Jorge Cuenca into a consistent starting role. Bassey started all but one match he was fit for before AFCON, and went the full 90 every time he started.
Scores header in win
Bassey scored one goal to go with two shots (one on goal) and one cross (one accurate) in Saturday's 3-2 win over Burnley.
Analysis: Bassey rose above the pack to head home his first league goal of the season from point blank range Saturday in Fulham's 3-2 victory at Burnley. The defender's two shot attempts (one on goal) marked a singe-match high in the campaign for the central defender. In addition to his goal contribution, Bassey contributed a team-high five tackles attempted (two won), two interceptions, four clearances and one block to the team's defesnive effort across his 90-minute shift.
Consistent starter
Bassey started and went the full 90 in each of the first two Premier League matches.
Analysis: Bassey has been a major part of the starting XI to open the season, as expected. He's made himself one of the irreplaceable fixtures in the backline, and is showing no signs of that role slipping. Bassey even came off the bench to help close out Wednesday's Carabao Cup clash with Bristol City.
